specimens like the male above should be ssp xarifa (from Venezuela and Colombia),
- but there are similar looking butterflies flying in Amazonia and Southern Peru and that are supposed to belong to the nominal ssp,
- and, in the North East, also fly specimens which look exactly like the nominate ssp.
