Elbella azeta azeta, 8 km South of Tena, rio Hollin, Coca.
genitalia by Klaudia Florczyk, Nature Education Center, Jagiellonian University, Kraków
the genitalia study has allowed Ernst Brockmann and Bernard Hermier to conclude it is Elbella azeta azeta, never recorded from Ecuador up to now, which is surprising as this butterfly is not uncommon on the Eastern limit of Sangay NP and in North Eastern Ecuador ; later we found the female near Mendez.
identifying Elbellas without studying genitalia, and particularly from pictures in situ, is a hazardous undertaking.
